When West Palm Beach, like many urban cities nationwide, began experiencing an escalation of youth gun violence, the City
partnered with the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission and a host of service providers to create a facility specially
designed for teens. In 2007, we opened the Northwood Youth Empowerment Center and since then have enrolled over 900
area teens in educational and recreational programs including computer use, design and construction; tutoring; FCAT prep;
audio/video production; substance abuse education; teen pregnancy prevention; intramural basketball and flag football; talent
competitions; gang prevention; job readiness and training. We hold job fairs, offer career planning, college tours and a place to
just hang out. The center is open Monday through Saturday – with a game room that includes X-Box 360, billiards, ping pong,
card tables; Wii and other activities. Come check us out!
